The CSOTFA organization has divided California into 10 active districts, numbers assigned as the district is created. Thus the 1st district created was District 1 and the last district created was District 14. Districts 10 thru 13 were created but were later dissolved due to lack of membership.

Each district covers one or more counties in California, as indicated on the District Maps. Each district is part of the overall organization and has a group of governing officials elected by their members in accordance with the CSOTFA By-Laws. Each district has meetings, may hold workshops, may perform or entertain, and may have District Contests.

Each CSOTFA member is a member of a district and is automatically a member of CSOTFA. Each district elects a District Director to represent them at the CSOTFA State level on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors (Directors from the 10 active Districts) meet periodically to establish governing policy (in accordance with approved By-Laws) and to appoint the State Officers who are the governing body.
